It Takes A Village

The phrase came from Victoria at People Dem Collective. “It Takes a Village” is about collective care, community, and the idea that none of us get anywhere on our own. We’ve worked together before on art workshops with children and young people in Margate, so it felt right to make something around that idea.
The text is part of an ongoing project collecting found fonts from packaging, signage and commercial graphics, turning them into my own typeface. The background pattern comes from a painting called Destinations, about place, X marks the spot, and trying to find where you fit.
